Shannon and Blake’s Washington State wedding is one they have been dreaming of for YEARS.
I first crossed paths with these now longtime friends when I was in film school and the rest is history from there. As years went on, anytime we talked about their wedding day our excitement grew. In 2019, they finally got engaged and I couldn’t wait for what was to come!
It took placed in a secluded spot surrounded by beautiful Washington trees in Index – right outside of Seattle – where the smell of rain and moss filled the air. It was euphoric feeling the chill of the breeze externally while being filled with warm excitement on the inside.
The two got ready in separate A-frame cabins and in between sips of the local brew, makeup was applied, hair done, and attire on. One of my favorite moment was watching Blake write his private vows to his bride on a classic typewriter. It was a beautiful symbol at how disconnected from the world they were on this day. It was truly just about each other, no distractions, just focused on their next chapter. Watching Shannon get emotional when seeing herself in the mirror for the first time after finishing her hair and makeup, was something I’ll also never forget. It finally hit her in that moment that it was all really happening – FINALLY!
Their first look was sweet, intimate, and emotional. Especially once the two exchanged their vows. From there, we explored the depths of the forest and ended at a rocky bank along the river. We could hear ourselves laughing it was so serene. Just us and nature, the way we always dreamed.
The ceremony took place with all their favorite people. Edison lights hung in between trees and their geometric altar was wrapped in tulle and greenery. Smiles and rings were exchanged, leading up to their first kiss as husband and wife. The cheers of congratulations carried off in the wind.
My excitement for these two will never wear off and I can’t wait to continue to celebrate their love story every chance we can get.
